COVID-19 Guidelines

Outside the Box Covid-19 Guidelines

March 10, 2022

In accordance with updated CDC guidelines, masks will be optional for all staff and participants, effective 3/14/22. OTB reserves the right to change this policy, should new recommendations arise.
Domestic travel (within US) – if you do not have any symptoms you do NOT need to get tested or isolate before returning to OTB.

If you have a documented (doctor’s note) history of seasonal allergies, IBS, or some other medical reason that may cause Covid-19 symptoms you will be able to attend OTB as long as there are not additional symptoms not explained by your medical diagnosis.

If you develop possible Covid symptoms:

*Stay home for 5 days OR proof of negative test
*You can return to OTB with a negative Covid test, no symptoms, or resolving symptoms
*Roommates do not need to stay home if they do not have symptoms

If you test positive for Covid-19:
* Stay home for 5 days
* If you have no symptoms or resolving symptoms, you can return after 5 days
* You must double mask for 5 days after returning
* If there is a positive Covid case and that person has roommates who attend OTB, the roommates do not need to stay home IF they have their booster shot
* If there is a positive Covid case and that person has roommates who attend OTB, and the roommates do NOT have their booster, they must stay home for 5 days

If you were exposed to or have had close contact with someone with a positive Covid-19 test:
Close Contact = someone who was less than 6 feet away from an infected person for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period

If boosted, completed the primary series of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine within the last 6 months, or completed the primary series of J&J vaccine within the last 2 months

You  do not need to quarantine UNLESS you have symptoms
* If you develop symptoms get a test and stay home until you receive a negative test result

*If you do not have your booster, completed the primary series of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine more than 6 months ago, or completed the primary series of J&J more than 2 months ago:

Quarantine for 5 days
If you develop symptoms get a test and stay home until you receive a negative test result

For all those exposed, best practice would include a test for SARS-CoV-2 at day 5 after exposure. If symptoms occur, individuals should immediately quarantine for 5 days or until a negative test confirms symptoms are not attributable to COVID-19.

Volunteer Opportunities will resume when we feel it is safe to have people back in the building.

Our volunteers are amazing.  We would love for you to be one.

What does volunteering for Outside the Box mean?  For our participants, it means having a new, friendly face helping them achieve their goals.  For our staff, it means having some extra help that is so helpful.  And for our volunteers, it means having a life-changing experience that touches the lives of our participants.

Wondering how you can help?  We want your talents and strengths, whatever they are!  We believe that every volunteer should be valued, supported, and appreciated.  We depend on our volunteers to enhance our services and provide a way for us to reach the broader community.  Our volunteers (and hopefully soon, you!) make a huge difference at OTB!

Ways to Volunteer

Direct Support

Work hand in hand with our participants!  We love our participants at Outside the Box and you will too.  Providing direct services will give you a chance to participate in group activities and build strong and lasting relationships. It is also a wonderful place to fulfill both undergraduate and graduate internship requirements.

Group volunteering

Outside the Box always welcomes groups into our community. Whether you are a corporate business looking to build team camaraderie, or garden club looking for a special project, we have ways that you can help.  Outside the Box has a creative and collaborative philosophy and we are open to all people and ideas.

Special Events

Outside the Box hosts a variety of special events throughout the year. We are always in need of extra hands during these times. The ways in which you can help are endless; from greeting guests to helping out at our annual golf outing!

Behind the Scenes

If working hands-on with people is not for you, Outside the Box has a variety of other ways you can volunteer. We will work with you to tailor your volunteering experience.
